Enugu APC Campaign Council maps out Mbah’s re-election strategy

By Dennis Agbo

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council in Enugu State has held a strategic meeting to coordinate mobilisation efforts and develop campaign plans for Governor Peter Mbah’s re-election bid and other party candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, convened on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, by the council’s Director-General, Chief Charlie Mbah, brought together key officials to review campaign strategies, coordinate activities and establish a framework for communicating the administration’s record to voters.

Those in attendance included the Deputy Directors-General representing the three senatorial zones: Deacon Okey Ogbodo for Enugu East, Dr Dan Shere for Enugu North and Rt. Hon. S.K.E. Udeh-Okoye for Enugu West, as well as the council’s Secretary-General, Dr Eric Oluedo.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the council’s spokesperson, Barr. Steve Oruruo, said the gathering involved the core leadership of a wider campaign structure comprising politicians, former public office holders, academics, intellectuals and business leaders.

He said the meeting was aimed at drawing on the experience of the campaign leadership to develop a coordinated strategy for promoting Mbah and other APC candidates across the state.

Oruruo cited former Governor Jim Nwobodo, former Senate President Ken Nnamani, former Governor Sullivan Chime and former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi among prominent political figures associated with the wider mobilisation effort.

According to him, the governor’s performance would form the central message of the campaign, with emphasis on projects and reforms in education, healthcare, infrastructure and other sectors.

He listed the administration’s initiatives, including 260 Smart Green Schools, 260 primary healthcare centres, an international hospital intended to reduce medical tourism and the establishment of Enugu Air, as projects the campaign council would highlight in its engagement with voters.

Oruruo said the council intended to present the projects as evidence of the administration’s efforts to improve public services and infrastructure while seeking support for Mbah’s re-election and other APC candidates.

On voter mobilisation, he said Enugu State recorded about 382,971 accredited voters in the last election, a figure he argued fell short of the state’s potential, given its registered voter population.

He put the number of registered voters at approximately 2.112 million in 2023 and said it had risen to about 2.217 million.

The spokesperson said the council planned to develop strategies to translate the state’s registered voter population and what he described as growing political awareness into votes for APC candidates.

He added that the involvement of representatives from the three senatorial districts would help the campaign leadership address the political realities of each zone and extend its mobilisation efforts to communities across the state.

Oruruo also disclosed that the campaign office would be opened shortly, after which the council would begin operational engagements across its various directorates to intensify mobilisation and publicise the administration’s projects.

He said the council planned to take its campaign message to communities throughout Enugu State ahead of the elections.

The meeting, he added, marked the beginning of a coordinated phase of campaign preparations, with the immediate priorities being the strengthening of the council’s organisational structure, mobilisation at the grassroots and the presentation of the APC’s agenda to voters.
