The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Gombe State, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has been conferred with the traditional title of Walin Bojude by the District Head of Bojude in Kwami Local Government Area, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim.
The title was conferred during a ceremony held on Friday, with traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders, youth and women groups, as well as other dignitaries from within and outside Gombe State in attendance.
According to the District Head, the title is one of the most revered in the Bojude traditional institution and is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated integrity, wisdom and selfless service to society.
He said Dr. Gwamna was honoured in recognition of his contributions to human development through educational support, scholarship programmes, mentorship, job creation and empowerment initiatives.
“The people of Bojude are proud of Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna. His humanitarian service has brought hope to many families and earned him this honour,” the District Head said, adding that the recognition was based on merit.
The Walin Bojude serves as a senior adviser to the District Head on issues relating to peace, unity, community welfare and development.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Gwamna expressed appreciation to the District Head and the people of Bojude for the honour, describing it as both a privilege and a responsibility.
“I accept this honour with humility and a deep sense of responsibility. It strengthens my resolve to continue serving our people with sincerity and dedication,” he said.
The event drew a cross-section of traditional and community leaders, political figures and residents who witnessed the conferment of the traditional title.
