ABUJA – An Abuja-based non-governmental organisation, Flow With Pride Impact Hub, has received official approval from the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Education Secretariat to introduce its Menstrual Health Society (MHS) programme in secondary schools across Abuja.
The approval was communicated during a meeting at the FCT Education Secretariat through the Office of the Director, Special Duties, with representatives of the organisation in attendance.
The Menstrual Health Society is an innovative school-based initiative designed to create safe and informed spaces where young people can learn about menstruation, menstrual hygiene, health and dignity, and discuss issues affecting girls and young women.
With the tagline, educating, empowering and creating a generation that flows with pride, the programme will begin establishing MHS clubs in secondary schools across the FCT, with implementation scheduled to commence in October 2026.
Speaking after the approval, the organisation’s leadership, represented by its Co-Founders, Michael Chineme Ike and Nwankwo Chioma Emilia, alongside the Director of Operations and Administration, Onuegbu Ifeoma Christy, described the development as a major milestone.
According to them, the initiative is not merely an awareness programme but a sustainable school-based platform.
“The initiative is designed not merely as an awareness programme, but as a sustainable school-based platform through which students can access age-appropriate menstrual health education, participate in peer-led conversations and activities, develop leadership and advocacy skills, and contribute to breaking the stigma and misinformation surrounding menstruation,” the organisation said.
The Hub noted that the approval marks an important step in its broader commitment to ensuring that menstrual health becomes part of everyday conversations around the health, education, dignity and wellbeing of girls.
The organisation added that it looks forward to working closely with schools, educators, parents, students, and other stakeholders across the FCT as implementation begins.
